In our 20s we lived within a few blocks of one another; did dinners, drinks, brunches, lunches, birthdays and girls trips. Watched each other date in LA, build our careers and eventually get married, buy homes, have kids and move cross country (everyone left LA except for me).

We were always close, but after this trip I’ve never felt more connected. It’s crazy what a few days away with good friends can do. 🤍

Just a reminder that all good friendships take time and are meant to evolve. Love you ladies so much and thank your for such a meaningful (and aesthetically pleasing) vacation. 🥂🐒

There was a time when “Hanukkah Monica” was something classmates used to tease me — shorthand for being different, for being proud to be Jewish.

Over time, I learned what so many of us eventually do:
that the things tied most closely to our identity are often the ones we’re meant to reclaim, not soften.

This table, this cake, this joy — they’re not ironic.
They’re intentional.

For me, one of the cornerstones of being Jewish is a wholehearted belief in miracles. Not always the loud or obvious kind, but the quiet ones — resilience, continuity, choosing joy anyway.

We celebrate. We remember. We reclaim.
And we remain joyful!

The holidays in Los Angeles might not come with snow, but they do come with plenty of ways to feel festive. ✨
Here’s how I’ve spent this season over the last 15 years — equal parts dressed up, cozy, and intentionally slow.

FANCY HIGH TEA
Afternoon tea feels festive any time of year, but especially in December. Everyone’s dressed up, everything feels cozy — and it’s delightfully un-LA, which is exactly why I love it.
Favorites: The Peninsula (pictured, with a kids’ tea), The Culver Hotel, Huntington Gardens, Hotel Bel-Air, The Maybourne, The Langham

THE BEVERLY HILLS HOTEL
Whether it’s a coffee at the Fountain Room, lunch at the Polo Lounge, or just stopping by to see the pink nutcrackers — everything here feels iconic and festive.

HOLIDAY LUNCH WITH FRIENDS
A tradition I never want to lose. Festive outfits, great light, and champagne mid-afternoon — a perfect way to catch up before the end-of-year rush.

Yes, it’s a zoo — and yes, we still go. We wait 45 minutes for a 5-minute trolley ride and Parker loves every second. Pro tip: grab a table by the fountain during the snow show… unless I get my way at Monsieur Marcel.

RODEO DRIVE LIGHTS
Beverly Hills does holiday decor like no one else. A nighttime walk with friends or family before a cozy dinner at Nate’n Al’s or 208 Rodeo is a yearly must.

REWATCH THE HOLIDAY
No explanation needed. Always, forever.

UNSCHEDULED DOWN TIME
With so many parties, treats, and obligations, blocks of nothing are essential. Eat a vegetable. Stay home. Free play for everyone.

COZY FONDUE NIGHT
An easy way to elevate a night in — chic pajamas, champagne, good company. Truly, what could be better?

This table was set with 85 candles — one for each hostage we lost.

Since I first envisioned this table, more names have been added to our mourning.

Two lives at Brown. Fifteen at Bondi Beach.

The number grows.
The grief expands.
But the flame does not diminish.

The plates on this table were carried out of the USSR by my husband’s family when being Jewish meant being unwelcome, unsafe, and expendable. They brought what they could. They saved what mattered. They survived.

The white camellias are from my tree — long associated with purity, mourning, and endurance. Life continuing to bloom, even after devastation.

Add 6,000,000.
And it still would not be enough to extinguish us.

This is how we remember.
This is how we carry forward.
This is how we keep the flame.

I set our table with 85 candles, one for each hostage we lost, as a way to honor both the joy of the holiday and the grief living in our community right now.

Hanukkah is the story of a small light that refused to go out.

The holidays are A LOT: nostalgia, pressure, excitement, grief, family dynamics, expectations, and that persistent hope that this year we’ll magically feel different!

Citrus Court Holiday Buffet // The Full Reveal 🍊

Here are the details for everything you saw in the video so you can recreate each dish at home.

FRUIT TOWERS //
Brush fruit lightly with egg white, roll in superfine sugar, and attach to a foam cone with toothpicks. Top with a bow!

Orange and Loquat Tower
Use whole oranges in mixed sizes. Alternate oranges with loquats for color and dimension. Brush with egg white and sugar for a frosted finish!

Strawberry Tower
Thoroughly dry the berries. Brush with egg white, dip in superfine sugar, and let them set for about 20 minutes. Build the tower in a spiral pattern from bottom to top.

Grapefruit Slice Tower
Cut grapefruit into 1/4 to 1/3 inch slices and pat dry. Insert the toothpick through the rind first, then secure into the foam. Overlap the slices like shingles for a layered look.

Sugared Cranberry and Kumquat Tower
Brush cranberries and halved kumquats with egg white, roll in superfine sugar, and let dry until crisp. Alternate them as you build for a jeweled effect.

SPICY TUNA CRISPS //
Crisps: Cut rice paper into small rounds or organic shapes. Heat neutral oil in a shallow pan. Fry each piece for 1 to 2 seconds until it instantly puffs and ruffles. Remove immediately and let cool on paper towels. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt.

Tuna Mix: Finely chop sushi grade tuna. Mix with mayo, sriracha, a splash of soy, scallions, and a small squeeze of lime. Top with sesame seeds!

ELEVATED ROTISSERIE CHICKEN
Remove the twine and reset the shape. Place on a silver tray. Tuck herbs like rosemary and thyme around the edges and add citrus slices for color. Lightly brush with olive oil and finish with flaky sea salt. Looks like a French roast with almost no effort!

MIDNIGHT MARGARITAS
(makes 4 servings)

🌙 Margarita Base (make ahead & chill)
• 1 cup fresh lime juice (about 6 limes)
• ½ cup fresh orange juice (or blood orange for color)
• ½ cup light coconut water
• 2 tbsp agave syrup or honey (adjust to taste)
• 1 tsp vanilla extract (trust me—magic)
• pinch of sea salt

✨ To Serve (per glass):
• 2 oz tequila (or 2 oz sparkling water for mocktail)
• ¼ cup of the chilled base
• Shake with ice and pour over a salted rim

I just can’t unsee what I’ve observed as both a therapist and a mom — the quiet unraveling of attention, imagination, and joy that once came so naturally.

Reading The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt, helped me put words (and research) to what I’ve been feeling for years: the world my son is growing up in is not the one I want for him and it has nothing to do with white vans, tampered with Halloween candy or “growing up too fast.”

In fact it’s quite the opposite. It’s the possibility that he might never want to experience the world in the way us humans are intended to that scares me.

I want him to feel the butterflies before doing something brave, the boredom that leads to creativity, and the sweetness of simply existing — what the Italians call La Dolce Far Niente.

That’s why I’ve already made the decision to refuse what the author @jonathanhaidt refers to as a phone based childhood.

I want him to feel the butterflies before doing something brave, the boredom that leads to creativity, and the sweetness of simply existing — what the Italians call La Dolce Far Niente.

That’s why I’ve already made the decision to refuse what the author @jonathanhaidt refers to as a phone based childhood.

Romanticizing my life is about making the little things feel big.

Cherishing a moment with a latte I didn’t make in a beautiful setting, just because flowers on grocery runs, making Arthur cook something we’d typically only order at a restaurant, reading on the balcony, doing anything at sunset, cake for breakfast, golden hour photos of an otherwise typical day.

Anything that helps me embrace the moment by finding beauty in it, it’s truly a restorative practice that reenergizes my soul helping me do the work I love. 🤍

Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year, a time of joy, opportunity and a fresh start. It’s also a time to start reflecting on the past year and what we hope to achieve moving forward.

Today we attended our first religious service with Parker and as always, doing things I’ve done before but now with him hits different. It reminds me of all the ways in which I parent him in direct response to how I was parented, how I see all his experiences as extensions or additions to my own childhood, how I want to evolve as a person via parenting him.

I didn’t have as much of a religious relationship to my Jewish heritage growing up as Parker will, I didn’t have as much ownership in my role in this scared group as I did before marrying Arthur and having a Jewish child. I have been blessed with such a deeper understanding of who I am and where I come from as a result of choosing to become a parent and it’s one of the most amazing and challenging aspects of my life now.

One of the main concepts of this holiday is teshuvah: a spiritual process of “returning” to a moral and holy path, either to God or to a truer self. This year I want to really focus on what I share with the world. There are many private ways in which I want to accomplish this but also publicly on this platform. Particularly to share more of what I offer to my clients professionally, with elaborate tablescapes to pair, of course!

Sending all the love as we enter the new Jewish year, school year, seasons and holidays or new adventures you have ahead. I hope these words resonate regardless of what new beginnings you find yourself embarking on,
