To be honest, I haven’t been that inspired lately, hence why I haven’t been sharing as much for a myriad of reasons. Nonetheless, a few things like this have triggered that urge to find creativity, even though these photos are from last Fall and unfortunately were not taken in Paris, but rather the most Parisian address in all New York City.
And since there doesn’t seem to be any hope that a trip to Paris is in my near future, I was happy to live some beret filled fantasies vicariously through this show.
Among all the crazy around this presidential election, the pandemic, the isolation from friends and traveling; this show was the exact dose of overtly unrealistic, perfectly predictable, stress free entertainment we all needed. Not the best message to send to young women, but just like how I enjoy a Subway tuna sandwich every once in a while, this one show filled a craving I’m way overdue on satisfying.
And it all worked in my opinion. The scenic shots, the outdoor cafes, the peonies and croissants, the Carrie Bradshaw-esque outfit choices. Sure life is never this easy, even when Carrie Bradshaw did go to live out her dreams in the city of love she ended up with a toddler punching her in the head, a dress of her dreams and the mean, old man who paid for it not supporting her career. So lesson learned ladies, don’t count of anyone or any place to make you happy, or leave your rent controlled apartment until the guy who continuously lets you down comes to save you from a richer version of himself.
Anyway, I digress. What I do love about the show is that it tried to portray a modern fairytale, where our girl was more in charge of her sexuality, motivated by something other than romance and from Chicago. It kinda failed at that but it gave us that stubborn love interest who at least cooks and isn’t obsessed with making money, the scenic Chateau shots and a budding friendship that’s fun to watch.
Overall it was one of the few but important wins of 2020 and I am still desperate for more!
Au revoir,
