Our Last Night in Paris

September 28, 2024

After a rainy day in Paris, we headed back to our cozy hotel suite to freshen up before our last night of the trip and official five year wedding anniversary!

La Fontaine de Mars

La Fontaine de Mars is a classic Parisian spot that I am happy to say lived up to it’s consistently good reviews. I thoroughly enjoyed my final meal of escargot and French fries, along with a perfect glass of bubbly champs. Arthur loved his fresh fish but we both swooned over the side of gratin dauphinois, which is essentially what we consider potato au gratin in America, but remarkably better than any cheesy potato variation we’ve ever had!

Piano Bar in Paris

To follow dinner we headed to a famous jazz club, Le Caveau de la Huchette, on an alleyway that reminded both Arthur and I of our study abroad days with loads of falafel stands, Irish Pubs and a more gritty atmosphere. Unfortunately the jazz club had a line out the door so we instead snagged a seat inside the piano bar conveniently located a few storefronts down the rue de la Huchette to Café de Paris where a fabulous American singer belted out hits the whole audience loved signing to. It felt very Mindy Chen from Emily in Paris coded and Arthur and I thoroughly enjoyed when she took her break and gave a young Frenchman a shot at wowing us with his rendition of Rhianna’s “Diamonds.”

On our way home we managed a tiny shot of the sparkling Eiffel Tower through the rainy window before our last good sleep of the trip!
