Vintage Winter Pink Wedding Guest Dress

I love a vintage find.

There’s nothing better than the find for me, it’s a sport I will play forever because there really isn’t anything quite as satisfying.

So much of fashion is repetition, there are only so many silhouettes and fabrics fit for the human body, so much of what we cherish now, I’d even argue all of what we cherish now, comes from before. Especially when it comes to timeless, feminine style and quality craftsmanship in the present garment industry.

Aside from that, it’s also much more economical and sustainable to purchase pre-owned or vintage clothing, decor, books, etc. and if you’re a style hunter like me it’s an absolute thrill to find something good you can make your own.

And I love a trip to the tailor, I genuinely see clothing as fabric, always finding something to change to make it fit better but more importantly make the garment itself better style wise.

And this perfectly pale pink brocade gown from the 60s was no exception. Instantly my eyes were drawn to the delicate floral pattern and of course the matching jacket was the cherry on top! I immediately starting drumming up ideas for how to make it even more ethereal for my friend’s wedding, ultimately deciding to move the thin bows from the back or dress and jacket to the tops of the shoulder straps.

The result was beyond satisfying and I highly recommend anyone and everyone to find a great tailor. Despite how much money you spend on a piece of clothing, how it fits makes all the difference and can really change the entire look of a garment! I’ve had items at every price point tailored, in some cases the tailoring can cost more than the original price of the garment and so I always assume the cost before I buy anything new!
