Buenas Tardes Valle!
Known for it’s relaxed, country atmosphere we felt like we were truly lucky being introduced to the region given we have never visited a non-beachside destination in Mexico before.
Wine Country
Unfortunately we didn’t have too much time to explore all the wonderful local restaurants and wineries but we did love the views, food and atmosphere at Decantos Vinicola, a where the welcome party was held.
And since hats were requested on the invitation I decided to take it upon myself to finally make a purchase at Kemo Sabe after attempting to go in person on our trip to Aspen a few years back.
Monogrammed with my initials of course!
Vineyard Views
We stayed at the El Cielo Resort where the wedding was held and I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing stay. All the rooms are suites housed in casitas, each with amazing vineyard views and fire pits ripe for an order of room service s’more kits, vino and blankets included!
I thoroughly enjoyed my coffee each morning on the balcony and warm fireside at night. I highly recommend you pack layers for the high daytime temps and instant chill come sundown!
Café, Pool, Spa
The day of the wedding I thoroughly enjoyed my free time SLEEPING IN (until 8am but it still counts) and lounging leisurely in bed before migrating over to to the pool where everyone gathered to bask in the cool water, refreshments in hand!
I happened to have scheduled a massage under the impression the resort had a physical spa, but the massage was great nonetheless in my room despite Arthur having locked himself out at the end of course.
But it was a nice moment before getting ready for the evening festivities, starting with a quaint little chapel ceremony on site.
Mexican Flair!
Despite my typical obsession with resortwear while vacationing in Mexico (and everywhere really), I wanted to dress for the season and setting, meaning more autumnal colors but still in keeping with some latin drama! This black lace, corseted gown just checked every box possible upon first sight perhaps six months ahead of the wedding. Despite being long and black it had ruffles and a vintage feel that I imagined an old Hollywood starlet would wear south of the border. Definitely size up as this brand is known for running small!
And knowing the couple it felt right to up the anti with a more maximalist approach; so I didn’t skimp on the accessories.
And I believe I achieved just that as I had so much fun dancing the night away, feeling like Sophia Loren cast as a flamenco dancer castaway to a rural vineyard town!
Hasta Luego!
The evening ending just as I had hoped, with s’mores by the fire and my cowboy hat and hotel slippers put to use.
We left early the next morning back to Los Angeles with a whole new appreciation for the diversity of Mexico’s regions. Next on my bucket list: Mexico City and Mérida one day!! xx
