CHIC PLACES: CAVIAR KASPIA LOS ANGELES

[bigletter]Caviar and champs, oh my!

Well as if Los Angeles couldn’t get more fabulous we needed a place to mirror the opulence of the the fashionable set in Paris, with the elegant ease often embodied on the famed Melrose Place.

Nested into one of my favorite streets in Los Angeles within the space that formerly housed a perfectly shaded pink Mansur Gavriel, this next edition of the highly regarded caviar house Caviar Kaspia is absolutely divine. Reimagined into a calming and expertly relevant shade of sage I was enamored with the pairing of expertly done art deco details and Kaspia’s signature robin’s egg blue. Truly a perfect marriage between Parisian glamour and the relaxed refinement all of us angelenos wearing sunglasses year round are trying to achieve.[/bigletter]

And they didn’t miss the mark, both design wise and in service. One of the founders Rahav explained the details and concept to us after offering a well appreciated heat lamp, but the place needs no explanation. The indoor outdoor, multi-leveled setting created several warm spaces to sip, sturgeon and splurge. And I don’t just mean on the osetra selection, there just happens to be a Cartier boutique of course so you can add diamonds to the list of extravagant goodies before, or instead of, dessert.

But also the richly saturated lounge and bar decked out with the most welcoming copper fireplace and plush banquets.

I was invited to dine for dinner, although lunch reservations are available here. It’s the holiday season and my mother and I wanted something festive and fancy to celebrate and this sure to be voguish playground that felt like just the ticket. We made it an early one given her preference for 8 ‘o clock bedtimes and my desire dusk light and I am so glad we did as rain was set to trickle in that evening.

But despite the weather fluster, the place was bustling and to say it’s a vibe would be an understatement, especially when a caviar baked potato is the highlight on a menu. And although I’ll take any advice from Kathy Hilton, and the rest of the chic visitors of the original Caviar Kaspia outpost in Paris, I would be remised to say I am infatuated with it all; but especially my creamy white pasta topped with black pearl decadence!

We started with a glass of champs and a sake 75 (a worthy hot take on my loyalty to French 75s) and a set of blinis decked with whipped trout. My mother isn’t a fan of caviar, bless her heart and bank account, but she was over the moon to break her vegan-fish diet for the wagyu. Of course I couldn’t resist ordering the creamy caviar adorned pasta but the grilled cheese is most definitely on the shortlist for my next visit.

Our dessert was everything and more, yet I can’t remember what the special was called. All I can say is it’s presentation was equal if not less than it’s taste! Something with cream cheese, an almond cookie and some spectacular nutty frosting in the shape of homemade pasta wrapped around and to top it off a vanilla chocolate shaving on each side.

Spectacular! (and I met a follower from the gram, a true highlight for me)

Fin!
