CLASSIC STYLE: ETHEREAL SUMMER WEDDING GUEST DRESSES

[bigletter]Wedding season is in full swing and two of the three weddings I’m able to attend this year were meant for last summer. The first of the three was a few weeks back and what an exciting moment it was to join in the fun again of celebrating amongst other people! It was so exciting getting ready for an event after a year of lockdown and having a baby, something I will now never take for granted. After just starting to feel like myself, relieved from my postpartum discomfort, I was beyond excited to reunite with friends.

Fortunately I loved the Italian summer inspired cocktail dress I found on Rent the Runway. Which made going to the wedding that much better, but since it was my very first dress order post baby I was sure to grab a backup option as well. And while my first choice was absolutely befitting for a venue resembling Capri, I think it’s safe to say this second choice was also a show stopper in it’s own right![/bigletter]

Perhaps a bit more Provence than Positano, with a delicate sequin pastel print, princess inspired puff sleeves and a perfectly pink bow, I was obviously enamored while scrolling through the details online.

Bridgeton vibes for sure! And of course it’s named the “Daphne” dress, which is the girl name I had picked out BEFORE our lovely Bridgeton was released I might add!

However, I must be honest, this dress is not forgiving and for someone who isn’t super tall it felt a bit lost on me.

But I still can’t get over the colors and details. I just wanted it to work so badly. And if it was mine I honestly would have taken it to the tailor and possibly made it a mini dress, or at least actually look like a midi for someone who’s 5’1.

I just couldn’t let it go to waste, so I pulled out my pink feather statement earrings and modern day cinderella shoes and waited for a fairy godmother to make it all come together!

And by some miracle my husband was actually quite the fan. It’s not exactly a dress I would have expected him to like in particular, but I think he just enjoys seeing me wear a more fitted silhouette.

So we took our little guy down the quaint Montana Avenue in Santa Monica, so I could pose in front of a small pink and blue hued storefront for a few sunset snaps.

We couldn’t waste an opportunity for an outright bowmance, now could we?

But if like me you’re not as keen on the fit of this one, I’ve gathered some more ethereal inspired ideas for your next big night out below. Xx
