SIMPLE SUMMER ENTERTAINING

[bigletter]As someone who really hates cooking but still loves to host all my entertaining accolades must derive from two skills; setting a lovely scene and delegating the menu to someone or someplace else. Obviously, I have gotten better with both, especially since meting my husband who by the grace of God loves the kitchen, making us a great team.

So while Arthur cooks, I make things pretty. And this new centerpiece, is beyyyyond pretty![/bigletter]

Flowers are always a non-negotiable staple anytime I host guests and also just bring so much joy at home in general, but this ice mold really takes it up another level and gives my floral arrangements a second life.

For this mold in particular I used pink carnations, lavender and grapefruit slices. The process is extremely easy, you just add whatever fruits, flowers or objects you’d like along with water into the mold and freeze overnight. To keep everything in place I recommend slowly layering your items in with the water, so only fill up with water a bit, freeze a few hours and then layer again. If you don’t have time for that just make sure to stuff in flowers and other items thickly so they stick down on their own, for example using a big flower head versus petals it won’t all float to the top.

If you’re unsure what to add I’d just start with one or two types flowers you love, a few flower heads and the rest just petals. Other great items depending on the color scheme you’re going for are lemon slices, rosemary, blackberries, roses, pineapple, a barbie doll. Anything you’re heart desires!

For a lazy afternoon, however, a few pretty petals and even prettier bottle of rosé ready right as the sun started to set was everything and more! Enjoy!
