Well there’s nothing quite like a walk around three in the afternoon during the misty months of March, April and May.
Add a vanilla almond latte into the mix and you’re golden.
This is always the time when the sun tends to shine its brightest after an unpredictable morning of weather, as I was acutely aware of growing up in Chicago, tucking my thick puffy coat from the morning away into my backpack once school was let out at 3pm. And even here in relatively sunny Los Angeles the story always goes that there’s still something magical about the promise of a Spring afternoon.
Recently my mind has gone all kinds of places style-wise, dreaming up color palettes, patterns and where and when I can wear them. And perhaps that comes from the genuine place of starting anew, the restart we are all guaranteed if you believe it to be so.
Well at least one could hope given the dare I say promising covid related stats?
We might not fully be over the pandemic but we seem to be fully over the paranoia around it and I hope and with that comes the promise of parties and places I am finally starting to venture to around town and hopefully out of it too. The parallel of the season being a second chance at being over covid and all the intimate at home gatherings related to it!
And as I think up in my mind of people to see and places to go I can’t help but finally get excited again about style, not just for one photo sans mask as an escape from the reality of sweatpants and work from home, but to legitimately wear something out.
I’m back to ordering dresses with the intent of wearing them around other people, finally!
Naturally it hasn’t taken me very long to settle on some trends if you will that I can’t help but embrace. Such as the most perfect shade of sage paired with only a small drop of what I like to refer to as bougainvillea coral, the mix I can’t stop thinking about lately. For whatever reason I just can’t say the word red in a positive way, I just can’t, it’s too much a shock to the system.
So I will just have to stick with bougainvillea coral as that’s the movie playing in my mind…
Well that and the bomb vanilla lattes that have my full heart and pocket book come 2pm.
