CHIC PLACES: OH THE PLACES I {WANT} TO GO

There’s no place like home… and as comfortable as I am nesting into our new relatively new place, I can’t help but let my mind wanderlust around the world. There are so many places I’ve been itching to explore pre-pandemic but now the desire is inevitably strong considering how far off some of these travel dreams will be as a result. So even though it’s a bit sad to think about the possibility of no travel for the next year, I actually had a lot of fun making this list and creating inspiration boards for each. For now, scenic shots and aesthetic inducing goodies will just have to do! Enjoy, Xx.

THE HAMPTONS

At the last supper(club) my friends and I made a fast plan to visit our friend in New York to see her new home and enjoy a girls weekend in The Hamptons. We went to Dan Tana’s, which to be honest felt very appropriate given it was our final night our before everything changed. It’s the type of place that feels like it’s been around forever and instantly feels like home. So it’s pretty crazy to think it was the last time I saw friends in person, dined out and planned a trip, all fairly normal things I used to take for granted until now!

I’ve been to The Hamptons before and thoroughly enjoyed myself. It’s got all the elements of summer you’d expect; large spats of green grass everywhere, the beach and fresh seafood, but with an added dose of glamour from all the New Yorkers that flee the big city for fresh air between June and August. As relaxed an environment it appears, there’s just as many opportunities for socializing as the city but with more space and a more causal dress code. The last time I went my suitcase was packed with preppy collared shirts, tunic dresses and a pair of white shorts on a constant rotation. It was my 25th birthday and so of course we spent the majority of the time out and about but there’s still plenty of opportunity to do absolutely nothing amongst the serene summer suburban setting. I’d love to do a little bit of both next time with my girlfriends and hopefully this trip will come to fruition soon.

ITALY (anywhere really)

Dare I even attempt to explain why? I’m obsessed with the culture, the cuisine, the cities, the countryside. I spent most of my high school and college years studying the beautiful language and a semester living in Verona. I’ve traveled the north and south and still can’t get enough of the Italian way of life. After hearing how horribly hit this wonderful country was by the COVID-19 pandemic, I am even more determined to make it my first international vacation, to support the incredible people and selfishly bask in the charming surroundings.

I would definitely want to make a trip back to Verona to revisit my time living there and show Arthur how magical a city it really is. Of course heading back to the Amalfi coast would also be a real treat, but I could skip Positano{except for a little sunset drink at Le Sirenuse}  and just stay on Capri island, home to the fabulous La Fontelina beach club and much, much more. But additionally I’d love to explore wine country and spend a bit of time just living in a quaint little village, like the movie Under the Tuscan Sun. Che bella!

AFRICA

Yes, I know Africa is a continent, not a country. But honestly I have no exact idea where I’d go outside of maybe a few days in Cape Town, Morocco and Kenya and of course, frequenting several safari camps. Thanks for Instagram and a good friend of mine, I am obsessed with the idea of a stay at Giraffe Manor where you quite literally stay with what I assume are some very friendly giraffes. After hearing such amazing stories from friends and family about the safari experience I just can’t imagine any cooler adventure then getting up close to wildlife and seeing animals in their natural habitat. Especially after binge watching Tiger King

NEW ENGLAND

This one is hard to talk about, as this trip has already been all planned out for my mother, sister and I to do this fall. Inspired of course by our collective obsession with the beloved show Gilmore Girls, we assumed a road trip through New England’s most charming places would make for a lovely experience and celebration for my little sister’s October birthday. At this point, however, it’s unlikely we will actually go given the likely aftermath of the pandemic. Fortunately for us, it doesn’t seem as if the apple orchards, changing leaves and log cabins are planning to go away anytime soon. We will hopefully move our trip to another fall season when everyone feels more comfortable traveling. Praying all the small businesses like apple cider donut stands and quaint country inn’s will still be there once we finally arrive!

PARIS

The last couple years I’ve been itching to resist two of most beautiful European cities in the world, at least in my opinion. I have an obsession with Parisian culture, the food, fashion and architecture. There are actually several outfits in my closet currently reserved for the next time I travel there that just don’t feel right to wear anywhere else but the city of love, so hopefully I make there again sometime soon. But aside from just getting through a pre-selected wardrobe, some to do’s on my list are most certainly tasting my way through the city, sitting for an entire afternoon at Café de Flore, window browsing all the haute shops, finding some pretty antiques to take home, picnicking at the Eifel tower and seeing it glimmer at night.

LONDON

London is only a three hour train ride away and so I’d love to hop and spend sometime pretending to be a chic British fashion girl, spending an afternoon at high tea, eating at the many posh restaurants, walking around the most quaint little neighborhoods and especially around Christmastime! Ideally I’d spend another long stint of time in the English countryside and live out The Holiday, but I digress!

INDIA

I have been dreaming of a trip to India for a while now, which surprisingly not many of my friends and family seems ti understand why. As a design obsessed adventurer I am obviously attracted to the colorful, culture rich experience, especially given how much of my aesthetic leans east. I’d love to spend a few days just browsing all the shops for textiles, home goods and intricately patterned ensembles to wear for the rest of my life. But outside the architecture rich Jaipur I am not exactly sure where else I would go, a problem I am certain a solid day committed to the internet and social media would easily solve. Aside from that my biggest conundrum post quarantine would be finding someone else to go with me, a task nobody I know has yet show any interest in! Wish me luck!
