[bigletter]Yes, it’s a real thing. After watching my favorite Christmas movie, The Holiday, for the umpteenth time I finally caught a line that I am surprised never stuck with me before, the mention of Christmas Fettuccine![/bigletter]

After a swift google search I soon found out this fiction appearing dish was in fact true and now another two things I love can come together; this movie and my favorite food group, pasta!

So I found a relatively simple recipe and enlisted the assistance/safe guarding of my husband while attempting to make this festive dish.

Recipe {via Simply Scratch}

3/4 pound dry fettuccini noodles

2 teaspoons olive oil

1 medium shallot, finely minced

1 to 2 cloves peeled fresh garlic, finely minced

1 large roma tomato (2 if small), seeded and diced

1/4 cup dry white wine (like chardonnay or sauvignon blanc)

6 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving

kosher salt, to taste

freshly ground black pepper, to taste

minced fresh parsley, for serving

torn basil leaves, for serving

Cooking Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of water to boil for pasta while you mince garlic and shallots and add them to cook on medium in a skillet. Allow to cook for about 5 minutes
  2. Dice tomatoes and add to skillet until browned, then add white wine. Cook for about 3 minutes.
  3. Add pasta when water comes to a boil and cook as instructed on packaging.
  4. Add in butter and cream, stir until melted fully and add grated parmesan cheese.
  5. Cook sauce until cheese melts, add salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Drain pasta and add to sauce in skillet, mix together slowly.
  7. Plate the pasta and sprinkle on more parmesan, minced parsley.
  8. Add basil leaves to garnish.
